Saudi Arabia: Jawazat Updates on Multiple Exit and Re-Entry Visas
The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in Saudi Arabia has clearly stated the rules for giving and renewing exit and re-entry visas for residents. It has also shared details about how long multiple-entry visas last, when they are valid, and how they are counted.
Jawazat Clarifies Multiple Entry Visa Rules
According to Jawazat, a multiple-entry exit and re-entry visa is valid for three months. This period is counted either from the date of issuance or the date of departure, depending on the visa type.
If the visa duration is fixed at 60, 90, or 120 days, it starts from the date the traveler leaves. However, if the traveler returns early or the visa includes a total number of days allowed abroad, the duration is calculated from the issuance date.
Jawazat: Visitor Visa Can Only Be Extended Once
A multiple-entry visit visa may be extended only once. After that, the visitor must leave the country before the allowed stay ends. As long as the visa is still valid, the person may enter and leave the country multiple times. If the visa expires before departure, the person must pay a fine of SAR 1000. The passport office collects this amount to cancel the visa. Cancellation is allowed only if the visitor holds a valid residency card or Iqama.
Anyone planning to travel to Saudi Arabia in the coming days should ensure they leave the country before their visa expires.
Conclusion
Jawazat’s updated guidelines help travelers understand the rules for multiple-entry visas. Staying informed ensures compliance and avoids penalties. Visitors should check the validity of their visa and iqama before planning travel. Adhering to the rules supports a smooth entry and exit process.
